Welcome to our blog! My dad and I are going up to the Northwest Territories in August 2018 as part of an Outward Bound Canada trip to paddle down the Nahanni River. Over the course of 10 days we will paddle 240 km down this mighty river and get a chance to see some of Canada's most beautiful landscapes and wildlife.
We have been on many adventures together over the years, from mountain biking in the bone dry Atacama Desert to hiking through thick and lush Venezuelan rainforest, but we've never been so fortunate as to spend 10 days together sharing a tent and canoe... We are excited but humbled that we get to paddle in such a remote and beautiful place together.
These outdoor pursuits have helped shape who we are, and as part of this trip we have the opportunity to enable others to have these experiences as well. The money we fundraise will go to support Outward Bound's life-transforming funded programs for vulnerable youth, women survivors of violence, Indigenous communities, and veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorders. We hope you will support with a donation, our fundraising page can be found here.
We are both avid photographers so we will be updating this blog periodically before the trip with a few preparation photos but mainly we hope that we can share a small portion of what we experience with our followers and donors once we have completed the trip, including our photographs. This of course assumes we haven't tipped the canoe over and lost our cameras to the mighty Nahanni, but assuming we make it keep tuned for some photos!
